Rules & Code of Conduct
FlohMaps thrives on neighbourly cooperation. So that it works well for everyone, these rules apply – both legally and as a matter of decency.
Two kinds of flea markets
FlohMaps hosts two kinds of events. At a yard sale (decentralized) many neighbours sell at the same time from their own property – there is no organizer in the legal sense, everyone sells on their own responsibility. At a central flea market (e.g. a club or kindergarten sale) everything takes place at one venue; there you simply sign up without giving your own address. Which kind an event is is shown on its page.
Rules for sellers (yard sale)
Selling takes place exclusively on private property: in the yard, garage, garden or driveway. Pavements, roads and public spaces must not be used or blocked – emergency routes must always stay clear. Tenants obtain their landlord’s or owner’s consent in advance. Only private belongings are sold – no commercial trade, no new goods for resale, no prohibited items. Everyone is responsible for their own stand, for safety on their own property and for following these rules.
Taking part in central flea markets (club/kindergarten etc.)
If a market takes place at a fixed venue, the house rules of the hosting institution (club, kindergarten, school, municipality …) apply. Set-up and tear-down, pitches, times and other conditions are set by the host; their instructions must be followed. By signing up you accept these conditions. Here too: no prohibited items, respectful conduct, keep emergency routes clear.
Participation fees
Organizers may set a participation fee for their market (e.g. an amount per table or stand). Whether and how much a fee is charged is decided solely by the host – independently of FlohMaps. FlohMaps is not involved in such fees: we only provide the technical platform, do not collect any money, process no payments and keep no share. Payment is made directly between participant and organizer according to their terms. Displayed fees are the organizers’ own statements; they are responsible for their accuracy.
Rules for organizers
Organizers coordinate date, place and visibility. At yard sales they are not the promoter of the individual sales; at central markets they bear on-site responsibility as the host (house rules, set-up, any fees). They undertake to use the platform truthfully, to moderate their event’s community feed and to take reports of rule violations seriously. Special pitches and central venues (e.g. at a kindergarten or club) are only listed with the consent of the respective institution. Details such as fees, place and times must be accurate.
Ratings
Ratings are only possible from the start of the event until 48 hours afterwards and should reflect the actual impression. Manipulation, multiple or fake ratings are not allowed. The public average only appears once a minimum number of ratings exists; individual ratings can be removed by the administration.
Conduct on the platform
We treat each other with respect. In the community feed, insults, discrimination, hate speech, advertising and spam are not allowed – such posts are removed. Photos must not show identifiable people who have not consented to publication. Anyone who repeatedly breaks the rules can be excluded from the platform.
Liability
FlohMaps provides the technical platform (map, entries, feed) and accepts no liability for the individual sales, the accuracy of entries, any fees set, or incidents on site. Purchase contracts and any fee arrangements are concluded exclusively between the parties involved (buyer, seller or participant and organizer) – FlohMaps is not a party to them.
